Poker is a popular game throughout the world. It combines principles of card games known hundreds of years ago in Europe and probably long before that in the Orient, but in its present form it is distinctly of American origin. Nowadays there are exist many poker variations, but there are not many differences between them. The principle of the game is the same for all poker variations. If you know the principles of the game well enough you can easily be a winner. Poker is a game of betting and card combinations. Traditionally the strongest hand available is a combination of 5 highest-ranking cards, there are poker variations, in which the best hands are different. In a High/Low Poker game, two players have the opportunity to win and split the pot. The player who has the strongest hand and the player, who has the weakest hand are the winners. Players make their bets and put the chips in the center of the table, which is called a pot. No player can compete for the pot unless he or she is willing to meet the highest bet made by another player. Because of this rule, players are able to bluff and win the pot. The object of the game is to win the pot. The pot can be won in two different ways.
When all the bets are made by the players, they show down their cards. The winner is the player with the strongest hand. If during betting, a player makes a bet that no other players are willing to meet, that player wins the pot without showing his/her cards. Poker is played with a 52-card deck. Each player receives one cards at a time. The cards are dealt clockwise. Aces are high, but aces rank low in the sequence A-2-3-4-5.
