The origin of Poker is still discussed, as nobody can say for sure from what games it originates. One of the Chinese or Persian games can be the an ancestor of the game. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. The first card games appeared in China, the card game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia and it France gamblers played with decks, which had 4 suits, that we have now. So, there are still a lot of questions and disputes about the game of Poker. New Orleans was the first state, in which the game of Poker appeared, later, the game was played all over the country. At the beginning of the 19th century the game was extremely popular, but it differed from the modern version of the game. During the civil war other Poker variations appeared and they were very popular. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. During the Wild West period of United States history, a place where one could play Poker could be found in just about every town. Poker is a unique game as each player plays against other players, but not against the house. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same. Nowadays Poker is one of the popular and most played card games in the world.
