So how does the betting work? In most casinos players have to ante to get cards. When all players have received cards you have 3 options. If you call it means that you make a bet equal to the previous bet. The Raise option means that you make the highest bet on the table. After you call the other amount it is basically up to you how much you want to bet. Let's take the example from above: somebody on the table raises a dollar, you have to call him with a dollar and then you can raise whatever you want. Some casinos limit the raising amount. Players can’t exceed this raising amount. If you fold you drop out of the current round and lose any chance of winning the pot in the middle. If it is evident that you will hardly be able to form a good hand you’d better fold.
